O’Leary EN, van Santen KL, Webb AK, et al. Uptake of antibiotic stewardship programs in U.S. acute care hospitals: findings from the 2015 National Healthcare Safety Network Annual Hospital Survey. Clin Infect Dis 2017 Oct;65(10):1748-50

Our journal club for January 2018 will focus on uptake of the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) Core Elements of Hospital Antibiotic Stewardship Programs in more than 4,000 acute care hospitals, including critical access hospitals, during 2014 and 2015.

During January, we will host several activities that will provide you with opportunities to share your thoughts on the report, ask questions about the findings, and learn from experts engaged in measuring uptake of antimicrobial stewardship in the United States.

There are multiple ways to participate!

Read the article, and view the slides (in PDF or PowerPoint format) summarizing the study. Please feel free to download the slide set and use it to discuss these findings with students or colleagues.

Register for our Jan 12 webinar, "Antibiotic Stewardship Programs in US Acute Care Hospitals: Findings from the National Healthcare Safety Network Annual Hospital Survey," with study author Arjun Srinivasan, MD, associate director for healthcare associated infection prevention programs at the CDC's Divison of Healthcare Quality Promotion. The webinar will begin at 12:00 noon CST, and a live question-and-answer session will follow Dr. Srinivasan's presentation.
