CIDRAP Personnel Participate in Regional Emergency Response Exercise

Four CIDRAP personnel participated in a regional active-shooter response exercise on the University of Minnesota campus with a specific focus on victim support and campus recovery as part of a Campus Disaster Assistance Rapid Assessment Team.

While Police, Fire, and EMS partners responded on-scene during the active shooter scenario, the Disaster Assistance Rapid Assessment Team convened to rapidly deploy resources in support of the victims and their families.

Exercise participants included CIDRAP deputy director Jill DeBoer, MPH, associate director Elaine Collison, MPA, project manager Carlos R. Cruz, and research associate Nicholas Kelley, PhD.

DeBoer and Collison provide leadership to the Academic Health Center Office of Emergency Response (AHC-OER) in addition to their work at CIDRAP. The AHC-OER ensures that health emergencies affecting the University of Minnesota community are addressed efficiently and effectively while using university and external resources and expertise.

Cruz and Kelley are members of the U of MN Medical Reserve Corps. which aids in emergency response and public health initiatives on campus and in the broader community.
