Ms. Collison is director of operations at the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP). She worked for the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) for 25 years in a variety of positions before joining CIDRAP in May 2006. For the most recent 5 years at MDH Ms. Collison was assistant director of the Infectious Disease Epidemiology, Prevention and Control Division. In this position she provided administrative policy, fiscal, and operational direction to division programs; coordinated the development of the division's budget; prepared biennial budgets and fiscal notes for Senate and House bills; and monitored and responded to legislative activities. She also provided overall direction for the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) project; served as state co-chair of the state and local public health Disease Prevention and Control (DP&C) Leadership Team, working with local public health agencies in defining state and local DP&C roles and responsibilities; and assisted in the division's planning and response to public health emergencies.

Prior to the MDH assistant director position Ms. Collison spent 5 years as the MDH assistant section chief of the AIDS/STD Prevention Services Section, wherein she managed the budget and operations of the section and was involved in HIV/STD prevention and control activities, including the planning and development of a statewide STD plan and implementation of legislative initiatives. She provided leadership at the national level by serving as the first secretary/treasurer of the National Coalition of STD Directors (NCSD) from May 1998 through February 2000. In this capacity she managed the coalition's budget, developed financial operating policies and procedures, and directed the development of annual budgets.
