Paul W. Mamula, PhD

Mamula Photo

Dr. Mamula, senior science researcher/writer at the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy, brings a combination of biomedical and editorial experience to the organization. His editorial background includes work at the McGraw-Hill Companies' Healthcare Information Group, where he edited and wrote for clinical publications and the sponsored projects group. Before joining the publishing world, he was a research scientist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and completed a postdoctoral fellowship and research at the University of California, San Francisco.

His doctorate is in medical genetics from Indiana University, and he also earned a Master's degree in physical anthropology from Arizona State University. His publications include localization of the human salivary protein gene complex, cloning and sequencing of the human insulin receptor and insulin-like growth factor-I gene promoters, and elucidating mechanisms of receptor function in diabetes mellitus and cancer.
