Osterholm on expert US food safety panel

Nov 8, 2010 – CIDRAP Director Michael Osterholm, PhD, MPH, is serving as a member of an expert food safety panel assembled by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). The USDA—along with the Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the President’s Food Safety Working Group—is partnering with the Ad Council to develop a national food safety public education campaign.

The campaign's goal is to help reduce foodborne illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths by improving food handling among food preparers.

The campaign, set to launch by mid 2011, will reach consumers through television, radio, print, social marketing tools, and the Internet.
