NRC: Proposed or scaled-back new agro facility could meet BSL-4 needs

Cambodia, WHO wrap up probe of EV-71 infections

(CIDRAP News) – A joint investigation into dozens of puzzling lethal respiratory illnesses in Cambodian children concluded that the infections were caused by a severe form of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD), the World Health Organization (WHO) and Cambodia's health ministry said today in a statement.

Enterovirus 71 cited in puzzling Cambodian infections

(CIDRAP New) – Lab analysis in the mysterious recent illnesses and deaths of dozens of Cambodian children pointed to enterovirus 71 (EV-71), a virus that causes hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) and can lead to severe complications in some patients, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced today.

FAO, OIE declare war on foot-and-mouth disease

(CIDRAP News) – The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) have announced a global campaign to control foot-and-mouth disease (FMD), a highly contagious livestock disease that does not threaten humans but can be economically devastating.
