CDC finds E coli outbreak strain in cheese

(CIDRAP News) – Lab studies have found Escherichia coli O157:H7 in Gouda cheese implicated in a five-state outbreak that has sickened eight more people, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said yesterday.

Costco Gouda suspected in 5-state E coli outbreak

(CIDRAP News) – Federal health officials and the Costco wholesale chain warned consumers yesterday not to eat a California company's raw milk Gouda cheese after a preliminary investigation linked it to a five-state Escherichia coli O157:H7 outbreak.

Lettuce confirmed as source of E coli outbreak

(CIDRAP News) – Federal investigation of an outbreak of a rare strain of Escherichia coli expanded yesterday as researchers confirmed a link between the strain, E coli O145, and the bagged shredded lettuce suspected of spreading it.

Romaine lettuce implicated in multistate E coli outbreak

(CIDRAP News) – Freshway Foods, based in Sidney, Ohio, today recalled some of its romaine lettuce products after a New York state laboratory assisting with the investigation of a multistate Escherichia coli O145 outbreak found the pathogen in an unopened product sample.
