EU calls on sprouts producers to increase safety steps

(CIDRAP News) – Producers of sprouts should add more food safety steps throughout the production chain to lower the risk of the kind of contamination that triggered a widespread Escherichia coli outbreak in Europe earlier this year, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) said in a report released yesterday.

Germans target sprouts in E coli outbreak, clear other foods

Sprouts linked to European E coli outbreak

(CIDRAP News) – German officials today announced that they have tentatively linked bean sprouts grown in the northern part of the country to a massive Escherichia coli outbreak, a development that US experts say could help explain some of the outbreak's puzzling elements.
