CDC advisors recommend steps to fill pertussis vaccine gaps

(CIDRAP News) – A federal vaccine advisory group today approved recommendations to fill some gaps in pertussis vaccination as a way to further protect babies who aren't yet fully immunized.

Supreme Court takes up vaccine injury suit

(CIDRAP News) – The US Supreme Court today heard oral arguments in a case that tests whether federal shield laws protect vaccine-makers from some liability lawsuits.

The case was brought by the family of Hannah Bruesewitz, a Pennsylvania teen whose seizure disorder surfaced after she received a diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis vaccine made by Wyeth when she was 6 months old, the Wall Street Journal reported today.

CDC says childhood vaccine coverage holding up well

(CIDRAP News) – Coverage levels for most of the older vaccines for small children stayed high last year even as rates for some recently recommended vaccines improved, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported today.
