CDC estimate of global H1N1 pandemic deaths: 284,000

(CIDRAP News) – Working with admittedly sparse data, a research team led by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has estimated the global death toll from the 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic at more than 284,000, about 15 times the number of laboratory-confirmed cases.

Survey: At pandemic's peak, people worried more about seasonal flu

(CIDRAP News) – Survey data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggest that at the peak of the H1N1 influenza pandemic in the fall of 2009, Americans were more worried about seasonal flu than the pandemic virus, according to a study published in Influenza and Other Respiratory Viruses.
