IOM: FDA should work for better product-safety systems abroad

(CIDRAP News) – With the United States importing a vast river of foods and medicines from abroad, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other organizations need to increase their efforts to improve product safety monitoring in developing countries, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) said in a report released today.

Report calls for bolstering state, local food safety efforts

(CIDRAP News) – Part of the answer to the nation's food safety troubles lies in strengthening state and local food safety efforts and better integrating them with federal activities, according to a new report prepared by academic experts in collaboration with state and local public health groups.
