Congress voices frustration as Salmonella toll rises

(CIDRAP News) – The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said yesterday that the number of people sickened in a nationwide Salmonella outbreak linked to raw tomatoes has climbed to 228 in 23 states, while federal lawmakers voiced frustration over what they saw as slow progress toward improving produce safety.

Sanofi to give WHO 60 million doses of H5N1 vaccine

Case cluster found in Salmonella outbreak

(CIDRAP News) –The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said that a localized cluster of nine cases has emerged in the nationwide Salmonella outbreak linked to tomatoes, giving officials a solid lead in their hunt for the source of contaminated produce that has so far sickened 277 people in 28 states.
