FDA lists 2 respirators as offering disease protection

(CIDRAP News) – The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) yesterday cleared the way for two N-95 respirator models to be marketed as devices that can reduce a user's risk of becoming ill during an influenza pandemic or other public health emergency.

CDC to take second look at safety needle for smallpox shots

(CIDRAP News) – Although federal health officials have not endorsed the use of an available safety needle in the current smallpox vaccination program, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) plans to take a careful look at the needle to determine if it should be used in the future, a CDC official says.
