UN: H5N1 responses improving, but threat persists

(CIDRAP News) – Many countries have improved their responses to H5N1 avian influenza outbreaks in poultry in the past year, but the disease remains entrenched in six countries, according to a new report from the United Nations and the World Bank.

Another H5N1 case cited in Java; Sumatra quarantine grows

(CIDRAP News) – Indonesian health officials have reported that H5N1 avian influenza caused the recent death an 18-year-old West Java man, brother of a 10-year-old girl whose death was previously attributed to the virus, according to news agencies.
