The outbreaks involved different strains, including H5N6, H5N1, and H5N8.
In other developments, Saudi Arabia reported 3 more cases, 1 of them fatal.
H5N8 has now been confirmed in 40 countries, and South Korean scientists shared genetic findings from a recent H5N6 isolate.
The preliminary genetic analysis suggest that some of the internal genes have changed, compared to earlier H5N6 samples from China and Hong Kong.
Thirteen new MERS cases were reported in South Korea, all with hospital links to the country's first case.
