Some older asthma patients may need high-dose H1N1 vaccine

CDC sees smooth road so far for flu vaccine

(CIDRAP News) – In a flu vaccine update at a federal advisory meeting today, officials with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said early signs suggest flu vaccine uptake in children is on par with last year and that enhanced monitoring for narcolepsy and seizures has turned up no signals of trouble.

CDC confirms record doses of flu vaccine were given

(CIDRAP News) – The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) yesterday issued final estimates for last season's flu vaccine and the 2009 H1N1 monovalent vaccine, confirming a record number of flu vaccine doses distributed.

The CDC's report on the vaccines, published yesterday on its Web site, is a follow-up to preliminary and state-by-state coverage estimates that it issued in April.

Probe of suspected vaccine-narcolepsy link to take months

(CIDRAP News) – The European Medicine Agency (EMA) said today it is not clear if there is any link between narcolepsy cases and the Pandemrix vaccine for 2009 H1N1 influenza, and it will take 3 to 6 months to investigate the possibility fully.
