Several European countries reported more H5N8 outbreaks several different settings: wild birds, poultry, and even at a zoo.
In addition to widespread H5N8, H5N1 is confirmed in Nigeria and H5N6 in Japan.
Finland, Poland, and the UK also report new H5N8 avian flu outbreaks.
Active surveillance put in place after H7N9 emerged in neighboring China helped Myanmar identify H5N6 for the first time in poultry.
Poland reports high-path H5N5, and Nigeria confirms another H5N8 outbreak in poultry.
In other developments, Iran reported several more H5N8 outbreaks and Bosnia and Herzegovina reported its first H5 outbreak of the season.
For the first time in China, the high-path strain of H7N9 has been detected in live market poultry.
The virus caused an outbreak in early February, but it was originally mistakenly reported as H5N8.
