Seven-state Salmonella outbreak sparks beef recall

(CIDRAP News) – A Salmonella Enteritidis outbreak involving 33 cases in seven eastern states has triggered the recall of 29,339 pounds of ground beef by Cargill Meat Solutions of Wyalusing, Pa., the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced yesterday.

FDA: Sequencing project will help solve foodborne outbreaks

USDA proposes quicker trace-back for tainted beef

(CIDRAP News) – The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) today proposed new guidance on trace-back investigations after evidence of contamination is found in ground beef during routine sampling, a move to more quickly protect consumers against foodborne illness.
