H5N1 cases dropped in 2012, but fatality rate rose

(CIDRAP News) – An official from Cambodia's health ministry said today that a 35-year-old man died yesterday from H5N1 avian flu, marking the country's ninth case and eighth death from the disease so far this year, according to news reports.

WHO reports Egyptian H5N1 death

(CIDRAP News) – A 36-year-old Egyptian woman from Beheira governorate recently died from an H5N1 avian influenza infection, pushing the world's number of infections reported so far this year to 10, according to an update on the disease from the World Health Organization (WHO).
