Survey finds improvements in hand-washing habits

(CIDRAP News) – Observers who staked out public restrooms in four US cities found that 85% of people using the facilities washed their hands afterward, the highest level since researchers began regularly studying the behavior in 1996, according to a report released yesterday.

Non-vaccine aid for needy nations' pandemic response falls short

(CIDRAP News) – While donor countries and organizations have responded well to the need for pandemic flu vaccine for developing countries, the level of giving for other pandemic response efforts in needy countries so far has fallen short, the World Health Organization (WHO) said in a recent report.

Three Asian countries top list to get donated H1N1 vaccine

(CIDRAP News) – Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, and Mongolia will be the first three countries to receive donated supplies of pandemic H1N1 vaccine funneled through the World Health Organization, the WHO announced today as it cautioned that it's too early to declare the pandemic over.

Novartis unveils US cell-based flu vaccine plant

(CIDRAP News) – The era of cell-based influenza vaccine production in the United States seemed to move closer today as Novartis unveiled its new, nearly billion-dollar manufacturing plant in Holly Springs, N.C., but onshore production and marketing of cell-based vaccines remains a few years away.
