Taiwan reports first H7N9 case outside of China

(CIDRAP News) – Taiwan health officials today announced that a 53-year-old man who had recently traveled to China is hospitalized in critical condition with a novel H7N9 infection, the first such case to be detected outside of China.

One SARS victim may have exposed thousands in Taiwan; ill CDC expert to come home

(CIDRAP News) – A hospital laundry worker in Taiwan who was sick for 6 days before he was recognized as having SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) may have exposed more than 10,000 people to the disease and helped derail Taiwan's previously effective containment effort, according to US health officials.
