(CIDRAP News) – A few of the world's tropical countries are reporting active flu transmission, as the flu season continues in Australia and New Zealand, though activity is declining, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported today.

Study: Dengue costs Americas $2.1 billion per year

(CIDRAP News) – Researchers estimate that more than 5.6 million dengue virus infections occur in the Americas annually, costing an average of $2.1 billion, according to a study published yesterday in the American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.

Federal, industry officials praise food safety law

(CIDRAP News) – Federal health officials teamed up with industry and consumer-group leaders today to talk up the importance of the new food safety law and expressed confidence that it will make a big difference in the long run, even if Congress is in no mood to pay for implementing it.
