(CIDRAP News) – The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is taking steps to prepare for clinical trials of a vaccine targeted to a novel H3N2 influenza strain that has infected at least 12 people so far, in case one is needed, a department official said today.

Vaccine virus for novel H3N2 based on 2010 swine flu strain

(CIDRAP News) – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) got a head start on preparing a vaccine against the novel swine-origin influenza strain recently found in four states by using a slightly different swine-origin strain that cropped up last year, CDC officials said today.
