Leafy greens safety pact apparently failed in Canadian outbreak

(CIDRAP News) – Canadian authorities say all California lettuce shipped into Canada must be certified under the California Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement (LGMA), a voluntary food safety program, which means the lettuce believed to be the source of a Canadian outbreak of Escherichia coli O157:H7 would have carried the LGMA seal.

USDA expands health alert for recalled Canadian beef

(CIDRAP News) – The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) yesterday expanded its warning to consumers about ground beef components imported from a Canadian company after the company's steaks were linked to eight Escherichia coli O157:H7 infections in Canada.
