Uganda plans vaccination push to stop yellow fever

(CIDRAP News) – Uganda is planning to vaccinate about 2.5 million people in its northern regions against yellow fever, following the recent confirmation that the disease is the cause of a 2-month-old outbreak that has killed more than 40 people, according to press reports.

Mysterious hemorrhagic fever in Angola has killed 39

(CIDRAP News) – An unidentified hemorrhagic fever appears to be targeting children younger than 5 in an outbreak in the African country of Angola.

At least 39 people are believed to have died of the suspected hemorrhagic fever syndrome in the northern province of Uige between January and mid-March, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Mar 17.
