(CIDRAP News) – Speaking at a Senate committee hearing today, US Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said a cell-based seasonal influenza vaccine from Novartis could be on the US market in time for the 2011-12 flu season.

(CIDRAP News) – A team of US researchers reported today that the current pandemic H1N1 influenza vaccine protects mice and may protect humans against the 1918 pandemic virus, a finding that should reduce concern about the potential for an accidental or intentional release of that strain.
