Cases of Marburg, Ebola climb in Uganda

(CIDRAP News) – An outbreak of Marburg hemorrhagic fever has grown to 20 cases in western Uganda, and 10 people in two of Uganda's central districts have contracted Ebola hemorrhagic fever, the World Health Organization (WHO) said recently.

Yellow fever in Sudan's capital sparks concern

(CIDRAP News) – Sudan's health ministry recently announced that a yellow fever case has been detected in Khartoum, the first one reported in the country's capital in the wake of an outbreak in several regions of Darfur state, according to a media report yesterday.

Study shows modest benefits for malaria vaccine in infants

(CIDRAP News) – The latest trial of the world's first malaria vaccine showed it was only modestly beneficial in African infants, a somewhat disappointing finding after an earlier part of the study showed that it halved cases in older babies.
