Drug-resistant TB studies show burden in China, new antibiotic results

(CIDRAP News) – Two groups of tuberculosis (TB) researchers released new findings today, giving the world its first look at drug-resistant TB at the national level in China and presenting encouraging findings for the new antibiotic delamanid for the multidrug-resistant (MDR) form of the disease.

Experts seek greater push to stop drug-resistant TB

(CIDRAP News) – Tuberculosis (TB) experts who met in Geneva this week said the global TB community needs to step up the fight against drug resistance and increase appropriate care and treatment "to avoid a scenario where TB becomes incurable," the World Health Organization (WHO) said today.
