Chinese pneumonia outbreak linked to SARS

(CIDRAP News) – An outbreak of atypical pneumonia that began in southern China last fall was probably severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), the mysterious flu-like illness that has spread to 13 countries since late February, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced today.

Mumps epidemic tops 1,000 cases

(CIDRAP News) – The nation's largest mumps epidemic in decades has reached well over 1,000 cases and will probably grow further before it ebbs, the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said today.

DHS-CDC deal to share travelers' data draws fire
