This training module is directed toward a variety of professions and backgrounds including but not limited to: veterinarians, veterinary technicians, physicians, nurses, occupational health professionals, other health professionals, swine and poultry workers/supervisors.
The goal of this training module is to familiarize users with measures that can protect agricultural workers from disease. Personal hygiene, the use of personal protective equipment to help reduce exposure to zoonotic influenza viruses, vaccination, medical surveillance and inclusion of agricultural workers in the pandemic planning process will be discussed.
Upon successful completion of this module the learner will have:
- An understanding of the occurrence and risk factors for influenza virus infection in agricultural workers
- The ability to describe protective measures that can be used by agricultural workers to prevent infection with influenza viruses
