General Influenza: Companion Animals

Intended Audience

This training module is directed toward a variety of professions and backgrounds including but not limited to: veterinarians, veterinary technicians, owners, and others working with companion animals in the United States and internationally.

Overall Goal

The goal of this training module is to familiarize users with influenza viruses in companion animals such as horses, dogs, cats, ferrets, etc. Infection control in veterinary clinics is also discussed.

Objectives

Upon successful completion of this module the learner will have:

  • A basic understanding of influenza A viruses in companion animals
  • The ability to identify clinical signs, treatment and control measures for influenza viruses in companion animals
