Epidemiology and Surveillance of pH1N1 2009 Influenza Among Animals

Intended Audience

This training module is directed toward a variety of professions and backgrounds including but not limited to: physicians, nurses, veterinarians, veterinary technicians, wildlife professionals, government workers, researchers, students, and international workers.

Overall Goal

The goal of this training module is to provide a basic understanding of the occurrence of pH1N1 2009 influenza virus in animals and to familiarize users with influenza surveillance activities and challenges in different animal species.

Objectives

Upon successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

  1. Identify key animal events in the 2009 H1N1 pandemic
  2. Describe surveillance efforts for pH1N1 2009 influenza in swine and poultry
