In the past, the city has experienced outbreaks of dengue, Zika, and chikungunya that were spread by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.
In related developments, Florida reported seven new locally acquired Zika cases yesterday and today, one of them in a traveler from out of state.
The same test is in use at a Houston-area blood center, with some others facilities in the southern United States planning to start testing.
