(CIDRAP News) – Spain today became the latest country to join the list of nations responding to outbreaks of H5N1 avian influenza, as officials reported finding the virus in a wild bird.
Spain, like Italy, has plans to support its overwhelmed health system with medical students and other surge staff.
More nations, including the UK and India, order countrywide lockdowns.
Pandemic activity is increasing rapidly in Africa, up 185% from the previous week, the WHO says.
