Nebraska firm's beef linked to E coli outbreak

(CIDRAP News) – The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced yesterday that a Nebraska company has recalled about 530,000 pounds of beef after the company's products were implicated in an Escherichia coli O157:H7 outbreak that has sickened 35 people in Michigan and Ohio.

(CIDRAP News) – Nebraska Beef, Ltd., recently expanded a recall of its beef amid reports that its production practices might have been inadequate for controlling Escherichia coli O157:H7, as the number of patients sickened in a two-state outbreak rose to 41.

State models cited as ways to improve outbreak responses

(CIDRAP News) – Experts and industry leaders speaking at congressional hearings this week on the nationwide Salmonella outbreak said federal agencies should take cues from state programs if they want to improve the traceability of fresh produce and the success of foodborne disease outbreak investigations.
