Avian Influenza in Humans: Epidemiology

Intended Audience

This training module is directed toward a variety of professions and backgrounds including but not limited to: physicians specializing in preventive medicine, public health, or infectious disease; nurses focusing on public health, infection control, or infectious disease; and public health officials.

Overall Goal

The goal of this training module is to familiarize users with how avian influenza impacts humans, including case occurrence, transmission, clinical presentation, and treatment.


Upon successful completion of this module the learner will have:

  • An understanding of the epidemiology of avian influenza among humans
  • The ability to describe the key clinical features and recommended treatment of AI in humans
