pH1N1 2009 Influenza Virus Among Humans: Surveillance

Intended Audience

This training module is directed toward a variety of professions and backgrounds including but not limited to: physicians, nurses, veterinarians, veterinary technicians, wildlife professionals, government workers, researchers, students, and international workers.

Overall Goal

The goal of this training module is to familiarize users with the general purposes, methods, and performance characteristics of public health surveillance systems and with multiple examples of surveillance for seasonal and pandemic influenza.


Upon successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

  1. Identify key attributes of public health surveillance systems
  2. Describe surveillance efforts for pH1N1 2009 influenza in humans
