Dr. Fleming earned his PhD in immunology and infectious diseases from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2018, and then served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Mayo Clinic Infectious Diseases Research Laboratory in Rochester, Minnesota where he worked on innovative solutions to chronic bacterial infections. He maintains a position as a research collaborator at the Mayo Clinic, where he serves as an assistant professor of laboratory medicine and pathology.
Dr. Fleming joined CIDRAP in 2025. He is a researcher on the Coronavirus Vaccines R&D Roadmap (CVR) project, which addresses the threat of coronaviruses and their associated pandemic potential through a coordinated research and development initiative. He also applies his expertise in immunology and microbiology to the Vaccine Integrity Project (VIP) and the Antimicrobial Stewardship Project (ASP).
