(CIDRAP News) – Opening the 65th annual World Health Assembly (WHA) today, World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Margaret Chan, MD, said she sees a bright future for health development, despite financial crises that many countries are facing, which has shrunk support for many initiatives.
(CIDRAP News) – Global health groups today unveiled a strategy to battle emerging insecticide resistance in malaria-carrying mosquitoes, a problem they say could be minimized or reversed now before resistance becomes established in mosquito populations.
(CIDRAP News) – To mark World Malaria Day, global health groups today warned that funding cuts could erode progress in fighting the disease, a point that was underscored by a new study that highlighted wavering support and a dramatic increase in disease activity in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
In addition, the World Health Organization (WHO) and other agencies announced new strategies to fight the disease.
