Overview

This expert-led webinar addresses the ongoing challenge of unnecessary broad-spectrum antibiotic use and its associated risks. Experts will explore strategies for optimizing prescribing in sepsis care, pediatrics, and beyond. This webinar will highlight opportunities to inform decision-making based on diagnostics, patient risk factors, and local epidemiology.

After attending this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify the risks associated with inappropriate broad-spectrum antibiotic prescribing.
  2. Discuss the role of rapid diagnostics and timely communication in guiding targeted antibiotic therapy.
  3. Apply evidence-based strategies to balance prescribing urgency and stewardship in different clinical scenarios.

 

Continuing Education

Learners can claim Continuing Education credit via this activity evaluation within 30 days of activity completion. MAD-ID will send credits for pharmacy learners to CE Monitor within four weeks of submission.   • Continuing Pharmacy Education: MAD-ID is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This enduring activity has been approved for a maximum of 1.0 contact hours.
  • Continuing Medical Education: This enduring activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). MAD-ID is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. MAD-ID designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Learners should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
  • Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse Education: For recertification, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board and American Nurses Credentialing Center also accept AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.
