Overview

This webinar will explore the rapidly expanding landscape of diagnostic technologies that provide antimicrobial stewards and infection preventionists with improved tools to identify organisms and their susceptibilities to antimicrobials. This is the third webinar in a three-part series and will feature past presenters and other experts in AMR in a moderated panel with time for live questions and answers from the audience.

Learning Objectives

After attending this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe the connection between diagnostics and antimicrobial stewardship, especially in relation to decreasing the burden of drug-resistant infections.
  2. Interpret and apply diagnostic laboratory results to clinical practice.
  3. Explain the advantages and limitations of current and emerging diagnostic technologies used for antimicrobial stewardship.

 

Continuing Education

Learners can claim Continuing Education credit via this activity evaluation within 30 days of activity completion. MAD-ID will send credits for pharmacy learners to CE Monitor within four weeks of submission. Learners claiming AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ can expect to receive PDF certificates via email in a similar timeframe. The types of CE available for “Current Trends and Future Opportunities in Antimicrobial Stewardship through Diagnostic Innovations” include:

  • Continuing Pharmacy Education: MAD-ID is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This enduring activity has been approved for maximum of 1.25 contact hours. 
  • Continuing Medical Education: This enduring activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). MAD-ID is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. MAD-ID designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 1.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Learners should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
  • Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse Education: For recertification, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board and American Nurses Credentialing Center also accept AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME. We would also suggest that learners check with their state licensing board to ensure they accept reciprocity with AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for re-licensure.
