The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Ebola outbreak grew by five cases today, with illnesses reported in four different location, according to the health ministry's daily update.
The new cases and 6 new deaths bring the outbreak total to 658 and the fatality count to 402, with 200 cases still being investigated.
Also, a US health worker who was possibly exposed was released from monitoring.
In research news, tests in animals show promise for a new monoclonal antibody therapy.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo's health ministry today reported two new cases, edging the outbreak total to 627 cases, including 579 confirmed and 48 probable infections. One of the new case-patients is from Oicha, and the other is from Katwa.
Health officials are still investigating 98 suspected Ebola cases.
The DRC update for yesterday reported 2 more deaths, bringing the fatality count to 370.
Saudi Arabia's health ministry today reported a new MERS-CoV case, the second case in 2019 and involving a household contact of a previous patient, according to an epidemiologic week 1 notification.
"This outbreak is occurring in the most difficult context imaginable," WHO head says.
With 10 news cases, the outbreak has grown to 608 infections and 368 deaths.
A healthcare worker is under observation as the DRC reports 5 new Ebola cases.
