Listeriosis outbreak expands to 40 cases and seven deaths

(CIDRAP News) A listeriosis outbreak in Pennsylvania and neighboring states has expanded to 40 cases, with seven deaths and three miscarriages or stillbirths, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced yesterday. The source of the outbreak remained unknown.

(CIDRAP News) There is no complete fix for the problem of foodborne illness, but a comprehensive, farm-to-table approach with specific targets for limiting pathogenic contamination would improve food safety, according to a new report by the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT).
