So when a company whose pepper-coated salami has been linked to a 40-state Salmonella outbreak pledged this week to use irradiated pepper from now on, it may have raised some eyebrows and sparked new interest.
(CIDRAP News) – A Rhode Island official said today the strain of Salmonella blamed for a multistate outbreak associated with salami products has been found in a container of ground pepper from the salami producer, linking the outbreak more strongly to contaminated black pepper.
